Nic Bam wants the mentally ill to have an experienced and influential voice for advocacy and freedom of expression by focusing his artistic intentions on creating himself as a representation of those that do not need to martyr themselves anymore. Nic does that through his music, live performance, brand, short films, and the non-profits he has created.
The powerful voice behind Nic's music comes from the need to be heard. Nic launched his rap career when he began to tour with artists such as; Moka Only, Illa J, and Tanya Morgan as their official tour support and management throughout Canada and the USA. Nic books and manages the tours, proving his hunger to perform and entertain. Aside from being a family man, emcee/ rapper, entertainer, philanthropist, polymath, phonetician, producer, and writer. Nic also dreams of being a physician before he is 50, so he can then work for at least 20 years, providing healthcare, and contributing to the healthcare that helped save him from unknown demise.
He was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Nic was brought up in a family outcasted by their own for the reasons of his parents' immaturity and their mental illnesses; Nic and his brother struggled to be the children hurt from not having a connection to the rest of their family. The distant family was highly successful, and Nic had to watch from afar while struggling with sick immature parenting.
Nic began to write verses around 1996, looping beats to a cassette and then recording verses through headphones instead of a mic on a double cassette deck. Considered by Nic to be his therapy, as a 12-year- old youth, Nic dreamed of a fulfilled life, performing in front of audiences worldwide. Nic began touring in 2007, starting with Moka Only's Vermillion album release tour. Nic non-coincidentally also booked the tour for Moka, thrusting Nic into the artistic expression of live performance and the business of backend politics plus industry standards of practice.
A high school dropout, Nic spent ages 16 to 21 creating a Hip Hop scene around his city, putting on the first Hip Hop shows in his hometown until he began to book Moka Only's tours in 2007.
Inspired by great Canadian rappers before him, Nic looks to artists like; Moka, Maestro Fresh Wes, Classified, Swollen Members, and the Rascalz, to name a few. He drew inspiration from how great underground artists can do when they truly apply themselves to their craft without pandering to a "majority audience."
Nic Bam has performed more than 500 shows since 2007, either as a solo performer, in a group or as a hype-man. He is a veteran in controlling a crowd and rocking the microphone as an emcee. Nic Bam's live performance is dominant; you'll be emotionally moved as a crowd member in attendance or intimidated as the following act. Either way, Nic will leave everyone wanting more.
